Welcome to our 3rd annual statewide celebration of cycling and trails – California Mountain Biking & Trail Stewardship Month! Take the #CAMTBmonth Pledge
Ready to make an impact this June? Show your support for California’s trails by taking our annual pledge.
This June, I pledge to:
- Take a Friend Mountain Biking: Introduce someone new to the joys of riding off-road, or encourage an old friend to get back on their bike and hit the trails.
- Ride California: Get outside and go for at least one mountain bike ride during the month of June.
- Support Local Trail Stewardship: Give back to the dirt you ride. Join, donate to, or volunteer with the local groups maintaining your favorite trails. [Link: Find your local trail organization here]
- Advocate for Public Lands: Be a voice for the MTB community. Call or write your local, state, or federal representatives and share exactly what cycling and trail access mean to you and your community.
Are you in? Share your rides, trail work days, and advocacy efforts on social media using the hashtag #CAMTBmonth!

About #CAMTBmonth
How It Started
The vision for California Mountain Biking & Trail Stewardship Month began four years ago during the Coalition’s annual strategic planning retreat in Santa Cruz. Gathered around a campfire, two dozen representatives from CAMTB’s advocacy community brainstormed ways to improve off-road cycling for all Californians.
The group recognized a strategic opportunity to elevate the cycling’s profile at the state level: introducing a legislative resolution. This approach would allow Coalition members to connect directly with lawmakers while effectively promoting the value of our trail networks.
Our First Legislative Victory: ACR 152
Shortly after that retreat, CAMTB drafted its first piece of legislation, ACR 152. The resolution was designed to do more than just celebrate California’s rich mountain biking history and culture. It served as a vital educational tool, informing the public and legislators about the immense physical, mental, and economic benefits that trails and cycling provide to our communities. ACR 152 was a resounding success, successfully establishing the inaugural #CAMTBmonth.

Building Momentum: SCR 94
Last year, we took the 2nd Annual California Mountain Biking & Trails Month back to the State Capitol. Building on our initial success, CAMTB sponsored a follow-up resolution, this time in the California State Senate.
SCR 94, co-authored by Senators Blakespear, Jones, and Choi, officially recognized California Mountain Biking and Trail Stewardship Month in the Senate, further cementing the importance of our sport and the ongoing need for dedicated land stewardship across the state.
Chapter 3: Raising Awareness
In 2026 our work now shifts to shining light on the amazing work of the coalition’s members. Now 44 stewardship organizations strong, the CAMTB community hosts over 1000 community events and services over 5,000 miles of trails annually. This year’s celebration kicks off officially on June 6, in conjunction with National Trails Day, but CAMTB Month events will be taking place all month long across the state.
