The 2025 Singletrack Summit NorCal Kicks Off the Series

Leah Mancabelli, CAMTB Board Member, and Michael Anzalone, Executive Director, had the pleasure of participating in Singletrack Summit NorCal – an amazing gathering of trail stewards and land managers from the Northern California region.

Singletrack Summit NorCal

Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance hosted the event in partnership with Shasta-Trinity National Forest, TrailLabs, Shasta Gravity Adventures, and Sierra Nevada Conservancy.

The Singletrack Summit launched in Redding, CA, in 2019. The gathering brings together trail stewardship organizations for a learning, networking, and partnership-building weekend. Its aim is to provide actionable advocacy information, relevant trail building and maintenance education, and quality networking opportunities for the stewardship community and their partners.

This year’s gathering in Mt Shasta included a trail building workshop on Friday, informative presentations, followed by a bike ride and mixer on Saturday, along with more riding on Sunday in the Gateway Trail System on Mt. Shasta. The event was founded and built up by regional organizations, including now CAMTB Members, the Redding Trail Alliance, and the Redwood Coast Mountain Biking Association. CAMTB participated in its first Singletrack Summit in 2023, and since then, it has been contributing to the ongoing organizing efforts. We want to say a huge thank you to the visionary leaders who dreamed up and made this terrific event a reality.

Regional Priorities Examined

One special highlight and activity was a regional prioritization workshop, led by CAMTB. Michael Anzalone and Nils Miller from TAMBA led an interactive session to capture, in an explicit way, what stewardship communities across the region are prioritizing over the next 12-18 months. It came as no surprise to most in attendance that the recent impacts on our federal land management partners have forced the stewardship community to reassess, and in many instances, refocus those priorities. Over the next month, this data will be distilled into a regional summary. We will then rinse and repeat at the SoCal, the Sierra, and the Central Coast gatherings to create a comprehensive regional and statewide map of priorities to help guide our advocacy efforts in the state.

Expanding the Singletrack Summit to SoCal, the Sierras, and the Central Coast

The success of this NorCal-focused gathering has inspired CAMTB to expand the Singletrack Summit Series to three additional regions annually – Southern California in August, the Sierra Nevada in September, and the Central Coast in October.
