CAMTB Ambassador Team shines at Outride Research Summit Celebrating Youth Leadership and the Power of Cycling!

CAMTB was thrilled to participate in the Outride Foundation Research Summit in Morgan Hill. It was an inspiring event that highlighted the profound impact of cycling on our physical and mental well-being. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow advocates, researchers, and educators, all dedicated to promoting the benefits of two wheels.

A huge highlight for us was seeing some of our Teen Ambassadors – Sophie Cadgaser, Anthony Chow, Hagen Ebright, and Bryn Merridew – in action! These bright young leaders represented CAMTB with pride, joining Executive Director Michael Anzalone, CAMTB Board Member Matthew Blain, and CAMTB members Coastside on Bikes for a morning tour of Specialized Bikes Headquarters. The highlight for many was a test run in the Specialized “Win” Tunnel for full effect.

Later, our Teen Ambassadors captivated attendees during a poster session, sharing their unique experiences as competitive cyclists and ambassadors. Their insights truly underscored the summit’s theme: exploring the vital role of cycling in supporting our social, emotional, and cognitive health.

This year’s summit brought together a diverse and passionate group—educators, non-profits, researchers, and the public—all united by a common goal. We heard from a wide array of presenters, including leading researchers, innovative community organizations, dedicated practitioners, and cycling program providers, all showcasing how cycling programs are putting powerful research into action.

It was an invigorating day of networking, learning, and reaffirming the incredible power cycling has on our health and happiness. We’re incredibly proud of our Teen Ambassadors and grateful to the Outride Foundation for creating such a valuable platform for collaboration and discovery.

Outride Announces a New Executive Director

Esther Walker, Executive Director - Outride Foundation

Congratulations are also in order for Esther Walker, who was named the new Executive Director of the Outride Foundation at the Research Summit. Esther started cycling for transportation while working towards her PhD in Cognitive Science at UC San Diego, and hasn’t been able to put down a bike since. At Outride, she combines her background in human cognition and data science with her passion for getting people excited about riding bikes, whether for transportation, recreation, racing, or anything in between.

We’re looking forward to working with Esther and the rest of the Outride Team in months and years ahead.
