Support the Future of Califorina’s Trails

A special holiday message from Steve Messer, CAMTB Board President

To all my fellow cycling, trails, and public lands champions! Be the force. Be the light.

Thanks to your support for our mission, the California Mountain Biking Coalition has grown from 5 to 43 member organizations (see map below). In just five short years, you’ve helped us create a powerful, unifying voice for nearly half a million California cyclists and trail stewards. We’ve built relationships with lawmakers and land managers that are finally changing the game for trails and public lands access across California.

The Path Ahead

Like many grassroots movements, we’ve bootstrapped our core advocacy work. But we’re at an inflection point. It’s time to be proactive, rather than reactive, and get off our heels.

To capitalize on the momentum we’ve created together—and keep our seat at the table in Sacramento and D.C.—we must expand our capacity. Our aim in 2026 is to add programmatic staff and external expertise to support our public policy initiatives and take our advocacy to the next level.

This Giving Tuesday and holiday season, I’m asking all of our past and potential supporters alike to help us reach our $100,000 year-end funding goal. The good news? We’re almost there!  We only need to raise $15,000 to reach our goal.

Can We Count On Your Support?

Every dollar you donate, whether it’s $5, $50, $500, or $5,000, is a force for good that fuels our movement for more and better trails. It ensures we have the capacity to:

  • Hold lawmakers and policymakers accountable.
  • Expand the influence of mountain bikers and trail stewards in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
  • Elect pro-recreation, pro-access leaders at every level.
  • Sustain our strategic support of local trail organizations.
  • Demonstrate that mountain biking is more than a sport. It’s an indomitable culture that protects and uplifts that which it loves – its community, its trails, and its public lands!

With deep gratitude,
Steve
