Crankbrothers Dream Bike Giveaway Winners and Results
It takes a village… 12 trail advocacy organizations and 7 mountain biking brands raise nearly $40,000 for more and better bike-friendly trails in California!
The 2023 Crankbrothers Dream Bike: Commencal T.E.M.P.O. featuring components from Crankbrothers, Industry 9, Cane Creek, Fizik, Hayes, Pro Taper, SRAM, and Continental.
This year, CAMTB teamed up with Crankbrothers and affiliated brand partners to raise funds for more and better bike-friendly trails in California. Crankbrothers commissioned a dream bike to encourage donations to CAMTB and its members to support their state and local advocacy efforts. The one-of-a-kind build premiered at Sea Otter Classic in Monterey on 4/20 to much acclaim. The chaparral-inspired Commencal T.E.M.P.O. featured a custom paint job and the finest components from Crankbrothers, Industry 9, Cane Creek, Fizik, Hayes, Pro Taper, SRAM, and Continental. Those who donated $5 or more to the participating nonprofit organizations were eligible to win the bike. Check out the build in the video below!
In total, the campaign raised nearly $40,000 to support CAMTB and its local partners’ advocacy efforts in the state, including:
- Advancing land manager partnership and policy initiatives with the USFS and CA State Parks
- Tracking and Influencing Legislation related to mountain biking, trails, access, and public lands.
- Funding Local Trail Stewardship Programs
- Engaging the next-generation advocates via CAMTB’s freshly-minted Teen Ambassador Program
A New Way to Support State and Local Trail Advocacy in California
At the conceptualization phase of the campaign, Sebastien Salvant, our lead partner at Crankbrothers and the Dream Bike designer, expressed his desire to support state-level advocacy and local fire/storm recovery efforts in California. The trails near Crankbrothers’ HQ in Orange County were ravaged by the 2023 winter storms and in need of major repair.

To help bring this to life, CAMTB recruited its member community as promotional partners and created unique giving URLs for each organization to record the support generated by each local community. At the end of the campaign, 80% of the community-generated proceeds were donated to the participating member’s trail program. This was a first for our organization and one that has great potential in the future to help us activate the larger mountain biking community in California. CAMTB’s 30+ member organization community collectively represents 250,000 plus riders in the state!
So, did it work?
Indeed it did! This was CAMTB’s most successful bike giveaway campaign ever both in terms of total $’s raised (up 34%) and total # of contributions (up 61%). Thanks to our members and partners we received support from constituents in every State Assembly District in California! What’s more, the Crankbrothers Dream Bike Giveaway raised over $15,000 in funding to support local trail advocacy and stewardship programs. Get ready folks. More and better trails are most certainly on the way!
