Action Alert: Help Us Protect Prop 4 Funding!

Use your voice to protect funding for parks, trails, and wildfire mitigation!

CAMTB has significant concerns regarding how Proposition 4: Climate Bond (Prop 4) funds, approved by voters in November, are being utilized in the Governor’s 2025-26 Proposed Budget.  The potential negative impact on access to recreation, trails, and public lands cannot be overlooked. Currently, $273 million of funding from previous years’ budgets for climate mitigation investments is being swapped out for Prop 4 funding.

While we are pleased to see Prop 4 funding activated to address climate threats, this application does not reflect voter intent.  Voters were promised that Prop 4 would provide funding over and above what the state already committed. The Proposed Budget reduces the overall impact of Prop 4 as it pays for projects that already have funding. 

Even at $10 billion dollars, Prop 4 funding is not enough to address the climate risks in California. Let the recent fires in Southern California be a reminder that we need to expand rather than reduce our climate mitigation investments. 

Please join us in urging your California State Senate and Assembly representatives to restore the $273 million of previous General Fund obligations in the Proposed Budget and utilize Prop 4 funding for new appropriations only.
